Steps to recovery: Pharmacotherapy in addiction treatment.

Searidge Foundation’s Alcohol Rehab Medical Treatment and pharmacotherapy treatment programs aspire to heal alcohol addiction. Scientific research has shown that a comprehensive approach for the treatment of alcohol addiction is vital for long-term sobriety.  People with alcoholism need a broad range of addiction treatment options including cognitive behavioural therapy, pharmacotherapy-if necessary, support group involvement (AA or Smart Recovery), family therapy, psychiatric treatment when necessary, alternative therapies and a wellness and nutritional approach to recover from alcohol addiction.

Alcohol Rehab Medical Treatments List

Naltrexone (Revia®)

Naltrexone is a time-released injection that lasts for 30 days and prevents people suffering from alcoholism from getting drunk or feeling euphoria or a “high” from alcohol during that time period.  It reduces cravings by 90% and the severity of a relapse.  The Journal of the American Medical Association showed naltrexone becoming effective as early as the second day of usage and reducing the number of drinks a person has per month by 90 percent (O’Malley et al. Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology, 2007). Alcohol Rehab Medical Treatment is often assisted with this medication.

Revia®

The oral form of naltrexone, which is just as effective for the treatment of alcohol addiction.

Disulfiram (Antabuse®)

Oral medication, which produces an unpleasant reaction when one drinks a little amount of alcohol.

Acamprosate (Campral®)

Oral medication that reduces cravings and overall desire to drink.

Concurrent Disorders

Our consulting psychiatrist is available to diagnose and address psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder and ADD.

We at Searidge are equipped to treat these psychological disorders alongside alcohol addiction treatment. This dual approach is important as many psychological disorders often result in self-medication, leading to drug or alcohol abuse.

General Alcohol Rehab Health Needs

Searidge Alcohol Rehab is also prepared to address general health needs for residents during their stay at our centre. We are well-equipped and experienced with conducting alcohol detoxification safely on site.
