Carrie – Health and Wellness Counsellor

Searidge Alcohol Rehab

Carrie provides our residents with health and wellness counseling as well as information on fitness. Every incoming resident will meet with her for a wellness intake assessment and will spend time with her during group therapy sessions and leads a yoga or fitness activity 5 mornings a week.

Professional Experience

Carrie Schell has been a licensed primary care midwife for twenty years providing comprehensive care to her clients.  Carrie’s role as a health care provider is enhanced by her Masters degree in Health Services Administration.  Her commitment to a holistic approach to health saw Carrie broadening her scope, knowledge and skills through her Personal Trainer Specialist certification and Older Adult Fitness Instructor certifications.

At Searidge, Carrie has the opportunity to bring together her education, experience and skills through the creation and implementation of the Centre’s Mind Body Spirit program.  Instructing yoga, leading guided meditation, delivering  Mind, Body and Spirit group sessions, developing resident exercise and wellness plans and client physical assessments are all part of Carrie’s role at Searidge.  Carrie finds her work at Searidge extremely rewarding and a natural extension of her work in the primary health care field.

Interests

Carrie enjoys fitness, swimming, hiking, riding, cooking and spending time with her family.  In her spare time she is the Executive Race Director of the Bridgetown Triathlon, the largest triathlon in Atlantic Canada.
